I have been to a Michaels near me and thought it was okay. I may go back to get paper for my ceremony programs and will also check out tea light holders.
i found there is a Hobby Lobby about an hour drive from where i live. i have never been to one before. and i am just wondering if it is worth checking out? or is it pretty much the same as Michaels?

In my experience, Hobby Lobby is way better when it comes to florals, but otherwise it's pretty much the same.

They are pretty similar. I like Joann Fabrics and Hobby Lobby better than Michaels (I worked there one winter).

I like Michaels, but I'm definitely a Hobby Lobby girl. Michaels has really good coupons, and once in a while better deals, but Hobby Lobby has far better sales….every week! =) I swear everytime I go in, whatever I need just so happens to be 50% off! And they have amazing house decor! =)
Definitely worth checking out! But go online to see their sale before driving there!

I think Hobby Lobby has more selection in certain areas. Like they have sewing stuff and more flowers. But in terms of scrapbooking I think Michaels is better usually.
In general I think the Hobby Lobby store in my town is bigger than the Michaels store.

It depends on what you are looking for. I love both stores and think they are both great. What I am looking for is usually at Michaels, so I usually go there- I am a huge paper crafts kind of person. There are somethings that I know Michaels doesn't have but Hobby Lobby does so then I go there.

I just went to Hobby Lobby for the first time and I was floored by the amount of items on sale. Plus I scored some great Christmas stuff for 90% off. 🙂 I never even used my 40% off coupon. Although the frames were 50% off, I felt the pricing/selection was better at Michaels. I also know Michaels inventory like the back of my hand by now. LOL
It all depends on what you are looking for. For fabric, I go to JoAnns; for scrapbooking and floral I go to Michaels; but I will add Hobby Lobby to the mix now. I found candles in my EXACT wedding color which has been hard to find.
I also have an Old Time Pottery near me and I find they have the best prices on vases. You just have to look around. I would take the drive just to see. Visit the website first and see what they have on sale. Hobby has a larger selection of decor items I think.

I'm a Michaels girl, but that's probably because the closest Hobby Lobby to me is 209 miles away! lol I do like Joannes too, but they don't have the coupon awesomeness that Michaels does, nor the selection most of the time.

Hobby Lobby just now came to our area so Michaels has been the best bet for a long time. However, I will say that when it comes to paper for paper crafts and scrapbooking, Hobby Lobby is superior. Please every other month or so, all their paper stacks go on 50% off sale. I try to hold off til then and then stock up as I can.
Michaels is still good though. I just find their paper to be a bit more limited. And alas, I am weirdly obsessed with paper now.

I LOVE Hobby Lobby. They have 40% off coupons online that you can use on any non sale item. Hobby Lobby is the only place I can find paper in my wedding colors so I use them for that. Plus I know their etching paste is also cheaper then at any other place.

I'm personally a HobLob girl, but that's because the nearest Michael's is an hour away! I have heard that it's nice, and I wouldn't mind going sometime for their paper (since I'm totally bored with the stuff available here) but from what I understand they're very similar.
Not having been to Michael's, I can tell you of Hobby Lobby rotates their sales each week. Go to their website to see their weekly sales flyer and print out their coupon. The coupon is often 40% off a regular price item- you can tell them which item you want to use it on. Other times it will be a percentage off a specific product.
But they have sales every week. Also, don't be tricked by floral sales and think you have to buy everything immediately. Silk flowers/Floral Stems are basically always 50% off.

I've always been a Michaels girl because we didn't have Hobby Lobby. We just got one last week and it was AMAZING. I was just browsing…not looking at anything in particular though. I'll probably keep going to Michaels for crafts, and hobby lobby for decor, unless I can't find something at Michaels first!
